If you are a PCI Level 1, you can now apply for the CIP Level 2 Program

Students that have taken PCI:
As most of you are aware, on January 6, 2021, SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings (“SSPC”) merged with NACE International (“NACE”) and the Association for Materials Protection and Performance, Inc., a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation (“AMPP”) was formed.
A transition committee was formed to evaluate the combined Education programs of each organization.  One of those findings was around inspection programs and the decision was made to adopt CIP as the go forward program strategy.  As such, we stopped offering PCI classes last year in preparation for our move to CIP. In lieu of this change, we have compiled the following guidance to achieving existing PCI candidates progress to their next level of certification under the AMPP CIP program.

Updates About the CIP and PCI Programs
Current NACE Institute CIP and SSPC PCI card holders will be moved into the new AMPP CIP (Coatings Inspector Program) in 2022. The program will have many of the same attributes as the CIP and PCI programs. As part of this combination, a descriptive naming convention will be adopted to help simplify communication to the industry:
PCI L1 will move to AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector (formally CIP Level 1)
PCI L2 will move to AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector (formally CIP Level 2)
PCI L3 will move to AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (formally CIP Level 3)
All current and active card holders will receive new AMPP CIP credentials and digital badges and certificates in  first half of 2022. To receive your future AMPP CIP credential, you must maintain your current CIP or PCI certification using the current renewal processes. If you hold both CIP and PCI certifications, you will only need to pay for a single renewal but will need to complete requirements for each respective program until the new AMPP CIP program is launched. Once the new AMPP program is launched, you will only need to maintain your AMPP CIP credential. If you have any questions, please visit our FAQ page or contact Customer Support.
